LOUDERDALE, Fla. (WFLA) – An 84-year-old man was shocked when police went to check his Chase Bank account and discovered there was a balance of just five cents.

According to an arrest report obtained by NBC 6 South Florida, it was discovered that one of the man’s close friends had been stealing money from him since September 2022.

Ju-dean discovered that a archer at a dog park in Hillsboro was not guilty of second-degree murder.

Howard Jay Juntiff, 56, was booked at the Broward County Jail on Tuesday, Feb. 4, on charges of money laundering, fraud, exploitation of elderly people and criminal use of personal identification information, records show.

Investigators said the military was caring for the victims who lived in support of living facilities in Pompano Beach and Lauder Hill.

The victim entrusted Juntiff with his personal identification information, which had stole over $593,000 from him, mainly through online remittances and ATM withdrawals.

The suspicious scam began on September 21, 2022 and continued until December 5, 2024, when police said they checked his 84-year-old bank account and notified his family of unusual account balances.

The victim told investigators that within the past two years they sold two properties and sold more than $500,000 in property.

He initially refused to prosecute, hoping that the funds would be returned to his account, the report said. However, authorities said the victim changed his mind when the judge was identified as a suspect.

While in court on Wednesday, Juntiff was awarded a $250,000 bond and ordered to stay away from the victim, NBC 6 reported.
