Conversations on immigrants often focus on borders and include words such as “crisis” and “invasion”. But as a Florida, we know that immigrants are far beyond the southwest border. It affects all states and cities, small and medium -sized enterprises, large companies, local schools, and top universities.
In order to deal with many issues in the immigration system, people who are particularly close to the problem require serious ultra -controlled efforts and community input. Our church, school, and community have contributed many years of expulsion of abroad. This is a layer of President Donald Trump’s promise of “large -scale expulsion”, which is truly alert for Americans.
In such a case, these policies have a significant impact on Florida, and the immigration community greatly contributes to agriculture, construction, and sightseeing industries.
I grew up in Miami and lived between immigrants from many Latin Americans, Haiti -Americans, and many regions around the world. As a child of immigrants, as a person who volunteers to reconnect in the southern florida or the reconnection of asylum applicants, look at how they work hard to create a legal status. Masu.
But until they get the green card, they live in fear. This fear worsens with the dark turns taken this year by the immigrant rhetoric. It’s sad to see our community members using such a rhetoric.
People who work to get it understand why they want to keep themselves away as a protection method. But the best way to protect yourself is to make the immigration route, which serves, invests in our community, and pursues legal status.
Many claim that immigrants are only “line up”. However, Americans who have never experienced a green card application process may not understand how long and difficult, and are almost impossible.
If it takes one to 24 years to get a green card, immigrants need to wait at least five years to apply for citizenship. As a whole, even those who “do everything correctly” can take at least 10 or two years.
Combining these misunderstandings with the wrong information that some politicians intentionally spread to demonstrate immigrants, the results for many people are not responsible for the confusion we have created. Anger at. We are distracted by the real problems and jump to the conclusion that large -scale expulsion is a solution.
Immediately before the election, Trump’s advanced advisor Steven Miller said at a rally, “The United States is only for Americans and Americans.” What kind of Americans do he speak? You cannot visually convey the difference between who is not American citizens. This is what I learned immediately as a teenager when an elderly man attacked her verbally, spit out and returned to Mexico. I left, but I wanted to say, “I’m an American, I was born here, and I’m not a Mexican but Costa Rica.”

A few years later, while living in western Illinois as a missionary, I was always asked where I came from. People were never satisfied with my answer, “I am an American.”
So what Americans do we include in the American vision? Who suits a specific physical explanation, or who lives here and chose to contribute to our country? When discussing who it is for the United States, the discourse that allows us to happen is to increase the fear of not only immigrants but also American -born children.
Recognize the efforts of people who are cooperating to find solutions, rather than non -humanization of immigrants. Miami’s own Republican Republican Republican Mary Erbilla Salazal introduced the ultra -controlled dignity with the Texas Democratic Party Veronica Escobal. Recently, it was approved by the problematic Solvers Cocas.
Tom Sutsui of DN.Y., a member of the parliament, and Morgan Route Relel, R-Texas, have built a coalition with various stakeholders to create opportunities to acquire border solutions and citizenship. 。 Immigration is not a partial problem, and should not be done. You have to cross the aisle by crossing the aisle and encourage you to find a solution.
We can discuss better border policies, but if you have a secure border alone, you have created legal routes for citizenship, and if you do not meet the community members with understanding and humanity, Do not modify the system. It is the responsibility of each of us to change the story about immigration. With the rhetoric we use and the policy we create.
