British Columbia’s Prime Minister David Ebie immediately retaliated on “crushing” 25 % of the US tariffs on Saturdays, including targeting US sake.
Evie called a tariff on Saturday by President Donald Trump, a “complete betrayal” of Canada and the United States.
“This is a declaration of economic war between trusted allies and friends,” said Ebys of Vancouver at a press conference.
Trump attacks Canada with 25 % tariffs on Tuesday, has a low duty of energy for energy, and is in charge of the foundation of trade war with the closest to the United States.
EBY stated that some immediate measures had begun in response to tariffs. He instructs the BC liquor division to stop purchasing American sake from the “Red State” immediately, and is pulling the existing inventory from the store.
EBY stated that he had immediately stopped purchasing American products and services to crown companies such as BC Hydro, ICBC, and health authorities, and instead supervised to purchase Canadian products and services.
The state also promotes permission for 10 private projects worth $ 20 billion, including mining, renewable energy, and natural gas.
EBY stated that the process is expected to create 6,000 employment in the northern and rural communities.
“We will never forgive you again on the whim of one of the White House,” Evie said.
Trump also selected BC in his execution order.
“Regarding smuggling illegal drugs across the northern borders, the Canadian financial transaction and report analysis center recently increased the production of expanded Fentanyl in Canada in Canada, mainly BC and its growth footprintis. In the international drug distribution, it has announced that it has recognized the growing domestic production.
EBY understood Trump’s concerns about Fentanyl in the United States, and said he shared the same concerns. He said that it had “lost too many lives before BC,” and said it reduced the safety of people and communities.
“When you are talking about organized crimes over the borders, you have to work together … and I can’t imagine an allies stronger than our state government,” Eby said.
“If the president wants to stand up and do that job, he can come to British Colombia and we can talk about the work we can do together. We have the goal of dealing with those major issues. I want to do it because I’m shared, “he added.
However, Ebie stated that imposing a 25 % tariff on BC and Canada to deal with Fentanyl issues is not a way to do it.
“These tariffs are meaningless. They have not achieved the goal of US economic growth,” said Ebie.
A statement sent from the Prime Minister’s office stated that about 67 % of wood, pulp, paper, metal minerals, and energy products accounted for about 67 % of the total products exported to the United States.
EBY said he was “particularly worried about the BC forest category.”
The BC Forest Industry Council stated in a statement that forestry sector has dealt with many issues in the closing of factories in the past few years.
He stated that the exports of all forest products could be catastrophic, leading to more unemployment, and could hurt the community that workers and livelihoods depend on the industry.
However, Ebie said that the state has done a lot of many years, diversifying the economy and being exposed to trade issues.
“For the business owner, for the government, the government is aware that even if tariffs are removed, the relationship will not return as before,” Eby says.
In other words, EBY added that the BC had to deepen the relationship and take risks to expand the trading network from the United States.
“As a British Colombian, and as Canadian, we will stand and unite in the face of an unprecedented attack,” he added.
