TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Satellite images from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Wednesday showed the extent of snow covering the South.
“As skies clear across the southern United States, NOAA’s GOES East (GOES-16) satellite provides clear images of the snowfall left behind by the historic winter storm this week.”

Record snowfall totals were recorded across the Florida Panhandle, with Milton seeing 8 to 9 inches of snow.
According to the Florida Department of Emergency Management, this doubled the previous record of 4 inches of snow set in 1954.
NOAA announced Wednesday afternoon that snow had spread from Texas to North Carolina.
Freezing temperatures are expected to persist into the night, and several counties are under freeze warnings.
