SeaWorld Orlando has set a reopening date for its revamped Flying Theater attraction. Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice debuts Monday at 2 p.m.
But SeaWorld annual pass members will be able to get a preview of the ride starting Saturday. Platinum Pass members can begin riding Saturday at 3 p.m., Gold level cardholders can participate on Sunday, and Silver and Bronze passholders can participate on Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The attraction introduces new visuals and a fresh storyline, with an expanded procession representing an arctic research outpost.
On the ride itself, visitors can see high-resolution erupting volcanoes, frozen landscapes, and even wildlife such as seals, sperm whales, polar bears, and beluga whales during a virtual dive underwater.
Justin Newton, senior vice president of project delivery for Orlando-based United Parks & Resorts, said Fire & Ice is one of the most immersive attractions the company has created.
“From the moment guests step into the Arctic Research Station, every detail has been designed to fully immerse guests in this frozen world and leave them wondering how that was possible,” Newton said in a news release.
The original version of Expedition Odyssey debuted in May 2025 in the building that once housed the theme park’s Wild Arctic Simulator attraction. Its first version, now defunct, featured polar bears and killer whales. The ride system designed by Germany’s Mack Rides is still used. SeaWorld officials said last month that the new version is aimed at making better use of the ride system.
Height requirement remains 39 inches.
On Expedition Odyssey, passengers sit in long lines, legs dangling, facing a large domed screen. Seat movements and special effects adjustments enhance the visuals.
This attraction continues to feature real arctic animals as part of the exit. This area was renovated for the debut of Expedition Odyssey last year.
