TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown was booked into a New Jersey prison Thursday, months after he was accused of firing into the crowd at an amateur boxing event in Miami.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals Service told WTVJ-TV that Brown arrived in Newark, New Jersey, from Dubai on Thursday.

Records indicate that Brown remains in custody at the Essex County Jail at the time of this report. A Miami Police Department spokesperson told NBC News that a date for Brown’s transfer to Miami-Dade County has not been set.

Brown was initially detained by authorities after getting into a fight with several people at a May 16 boxing event hosted by popular streamer Adin Ross. He then claimed on social media that he was “jumped” by people who tried to steal his jewelry.
An arrest warrant was issued in June on suspicion of attempted murder. Video of the fight showed Brown punching the man, then stealing a gun from the security guard and running toward him, according to the warrant. Police said cellphone video captured two gunshots ringing out.
The victim, who said he had known Brown since 2022, was taken to the hospital with a bullet grazing his neck. Brown left the scene before police arrived.
Brown played 12 seasons in the NFL, including two seasons with the Buccaneers. The wide receiver announced his retirement shortly after taking off his jersey and pads and running off the field in the third quarter of a Bucs game.
