KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WFLA) – Police are searching for an assault suspect after a report of a man attempting to kidnap a woman in Osceola County Saturday.
According to NBC affiliate WESH, the incident was initially reported as an attempted kidnapping, but police now say that was not the case, and that the victim was assaulted in a car.
At 4:08 a.m., the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an employee at the Rebel gas station, located at 2294 East Illo Bronson Memorial Highway, regarding a possible kidnapping.
The victim was walking east on E. Arlo Bronson Memorial Highway toward the intersection of Cross Prairie Parkway when a silver SUV stopped in front of her, according to the report.
The victim told police the driver was a man in his mid-30s with a handlebar mustache, wearing a black T-shirt over a white undershirt and a black baseball cap, and was reportedly smoking marijuana.
Deputies say the man offered the victim a ride, but the woman, believing the victim was an Uber driver, agreed and got into the car.
According to deputies, the victim stated that the man began making inappropriate sexual comments to her while driving south on Cross Prairie Parkway. When she demanded to be let out, the suspect refused and she began screaming.
The victim said she then tried to open the passenger door to escape, but as she did so, the suspect accelerated and she fell from the vehicle.
Deputies were able to create a composite sketch of the driver based on the victim’s description.
Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at 407-348-2222 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477.
