TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — The Republican primary for the Florida governor has already sparked a political pot, and Democrats are heading down the road to do the same.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is approaching the end of his final term in the election set for November 2026, and the competition to replace him is only intensifying for both Republicans and Democrats.

As of September 16th, the state has three front runners. On the Republican side, President Donald Trump supported Byron Donald and former House Speaker Paul Renner.

As for the Democrats, that David Jolly.

But now there is speculation about future candidates for both parties bullying with possible bids, moving around the I-4 corridor to speculate whether Orange County’s Jerry Demings is next on the list.
If Republicans and democratic frontrunners end up becoming Donald and Demings, people are already seeing a historic day for Floridians.
“This would be historic in Florida, if Byron Donald wins the Republican primary, if he opposes Jerry Demings, if he wins the Democratic primary, and Florida, where Florida is two men, two black men,” said political analyst Tara Newsom.

The reporter asked Demings directly if he was planning to throw his name in the race.
“I’m not saying I won’t run for governor. Given these things going on, I might just be,” Demings said.

Demings is usually a familiar face on the streets of Orange County, but he certainly started making headlines across the state, heading straight to Chief Financial Officer Blaze Ingoglier, who continues to call the county’s over-expenditure habits.

“They overtaxed and overexpenditured on songs worth over $200 million,” Ingoglia said at a press conference in Orlando.
“I think this turns out to be a truly exciting primary for the Florida governor’s seat, and that’s not surprising given that Florida is a national leader. [in] Now, policy and politics,” Newsom said.

For other candidates, former House Speaker Paul Renner launched a new campaign video this week, highlighting his Republican victory in working with DeSantis.

Silence from the governor’s mansion about who he supports is key to paying attention in the coming months.
