Walmart announced it is expanding its employee discount program to cover all groceries and expanding perks previously only applied to fresh produce.
The 10% discount offered only during the holiday season on all groceries over the past few years will be available year-round to all Walmart US and Home Office employees. In addition to existing discounts on general products and apparel, it also applies to dairy products, freezers, dried foods, meat and seafood.
The changes were outlined in a company memo sent Wednesday by Walmart Chief Human Resources Officer Donna Morris. She noted that expanding the program was one of the most frequent requests from employees.
“I’ve heard your feedback that these savings make a huge difference for you and your family,” writes Morris. “And I keep hearing that I want to expand this profit.”
Kieran Shanahan, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Walmart US, also highlighted the update on a LinkedIn video, saying that employees were shaped by “listening sessions.”

“We made it simpler, more accessible and accessible to more peers and their families,” Shanahan said.
This benefit is provided through a Walmart Associate Discount Card, where employees will be received at work 90 days later. The program has been running for 50 years and is a lifetime discount after 20 years of service.
