A broken section of Royal Caribbean Icon of the Sea, where water slipped off, injured passengers on Thursday, according to the cruise line.

According to a spokesperson for the Royal Caribbean Group, “Our team provided medical care to adult guests when the acrylic glass smashed the water slide as it passed through the slide.” “Guests are being treated for injuries. Waterslides are closed for the rest of the voyage until we wait for an investigation.”

The ship became the world’s largest cruise ship when it sailed on a seven-night Caribbean itinerary from Miami in 2024. A sister ship named Star of the Seas, which features the same six-slide water park, is scheduled to debut from Port Canaveral this month.

The slide in question, which is part of a Category 6 water park, is called The Frehrightening Bolt, and passes through a tube with a semi-transparent section near the top. The rider is dropped onto a 46-foot-high slide from the bomb bay door device. It is touted as the highest in the industry.

Videos posted on social media show the aftermath of water spilling broken sections of the slides from the slides.

In one video posted to X by user @jimmuldoon, some hear the calamity of the moment just after the incident and ask if the rider has collapsed. The rider did not fall, but suffered an injury that would pass through the section.
