Sportsbet website Thelines.com has analyzed Google search data over the past 12 months for all 125 major league sports teams in the US to find out which people were most desperate.
And for Floridians, Miami Dolphins are topped with leaderboards.
1. Miami Dolphins
The average search for Miami Dolphins is a monthly search. Founded in 1965, the Miami Dolphins are a Florida-based soccer team and the oldest sports team in the state. In 1972, Dolphins achieved a perfect season, winning all 17 games, including the Super Bowl, the only team in NFL history.
2. Miami Heat
Miami fever is an average of 184,709 searches per month. The Miami Heat is a Florida-based basketball team. They compete in the NBA as members of the Southeastern Eastern Conference. The team, who won 27 consecutive wins in the 2012-13 season, is the third-longest victory in NBA history.
3. Tampa Bay Rays
Despite the low average in-game attendance, the Tampa Bay Rays averages 172,338 searches. Based in Florida, the Tampa Bay Rays are a baseball team competing in MLB as member clubs of the American League East Division, including the world-famous New York Yankees. They have not won the World Series yet, but the team has won two Al Pennants and four Al East Division titles.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers is an average monthly search. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are soccer teams that play in the NFL as members of the league’s National Football Conference South Division. They won two Super Bowl titles. Most recently in 2020.
5. Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers averages 103,653 searches per month. The Miami-based Florida Panthers are ice hockey teams and will compete in the NHL as members of the Atlantic division of the Eastern Conference. They won the first Stanley Cup ever by defeating the Edmonton Oilers earlier this year to claim victory.
