ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – A tourist has been arrested after saying he grabbed a teenager to get a better view of the new parade at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on Monday night.
According to an arrest report obtained by NBC affiliate WESH, the 17-year-old girl was standing on the sidewalk on Main Street USA in front of Cinderella Castle when 51-year-old Marsalcia Zapata Echeruli put her hands on “in an attempt to create space.”
The teenager asked the woman not to touch her, the report said.
Deputies say Zapata Echeveli grabbed her with her arm and pulled her to the side when the teen returned to help another guest pass her.
Zapata-Echeverri reportedly told deputies he was chasing his daughter to try to reach the front of the crowd to see the parade. She claimed that the teenager was pushed into her by saying it was “her place.”
The arrest report said Zapata Echeruli was pushed back, causing small scuffs and bruises on the teen’s arm, Wesh reported.
Deputies said witnesses and surveillance footage did not capture the incident.
Zapata-Echeverri was arrested and charged with child abuse. Court records show that she pleaded not guilty.
Zapata-Echeverri made his first appearance on Tuesday. The news station reported that the female lawyer arrived on July 2, saying she was visiting Central Florida on a tourist visa.
Her lawyer told the press that she is scheduled to return Wednesday.
The judge told her that he had reduced Zapata-Echeverri’s bond to $2,500 and could not return to Disney’s property, Wesh reported.
