In a massive escalation, the US sanctions the foreign company supporting Cuban military – Orlando Sentinel

In a critical step in the “strict Cuban policy” promised by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Trump administration punishes foreign companies doing business with Cuban military companies as part of a maximum pressure campaign on the Communist Party-run island.

A source with knowledge of the new regulations told the Miami Herald that the sanctions would “target companies that provide direct or indirect support to businesses owned directly or indirectly by the Cuban military, and effectively extend US sanctions to affect businesses from third countries.

The new sanctions stem from a new national security memorandum signed by President Donald Trump on Monday, and present a new Cuban policy aimed at “economic practices that disproportionately benefit the Cuban government or its military, intelligence reporting agencies, or the people of Cuban.”

For more information, see the Miami Herald.
