The New York company faces the threat of fake bombs and disinformation on a global tour to regain traditional Chinese culture that precedes communism.
According to Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), the Chinese administration’s growth campaign to curb New York-based performing arts companies is equivalent to an unlimited war.
“They fight on every inch of the battlefield,” Perry told the Epoch Times, referring to the Chinese Communist Party.
Unlimited war is a doctrine that utilizes all the non-military means available to conquer the enemy. Under such tactics, China is taking advantage of the US judicial system and media freedom, Perry added.
Shen Yun performs dance and musical performances under the catchphrase “China before Communism.” The company was founded in 2006 by practitioners of Falun Gong, a faith group that has been cruelly persecuted by the Chinese regime since 1999, and has since been a target of CCP.
Perry, who is on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Intelligence Email Committee, said it is important to take these threats seriously.
It is important for the US and the West to “understand the pathology of this enemy,” he said. “The CCP is simply exploiting the US judicial system and media freedom.”
Intimidated emails, it becomes difficult for senders to track where they come from in the email using a virtual private network or VPN.

‘terrorism’
Shen Yun’s performance often includes stories about the human rights abuses that Falun Gong practitioners suffer in China.
Indiana Rep. Craig Haggard proposed a resolution in April to recognize Shen Yun’s artistry and value, recalling that Shen Yun began learning about forced organ collection. As a father, a normal Chinese family member is targeted as the state’s enemy, and authorities move him to know that “we’ll just control the life and death of your family.”
Shen Yun is trying to introduce “the beautiful parts of China,” he said, while emphasizing the darkness under communist rule.
Haggard called the bomb threat to Shen Yun “outrageous” and a form of “terrorism.”
“They are trying to intimidate through potential violence that has been threatened. This is happening in our own backyard,” Haggard told the Epoch Times. He added that Shen Yun’s artists are relatively safe within the US borders, but still “considering the administration on human rights abuses” “still take a great risk.”

“Rise pressure”
Vicki Hertzler, a former Missouri Sen., a member of the US International Religious Freedom Committee and a former Missouri lawmaker, said the bomb threat also reveals fear from Chinese authorities.
“It only shows the level of threat they see from this group, and shows how successful these events have been in promoting positive relationships between other countries, the Chinese and certainly Falun Gong practitioners,” Herzler told the Epoch Times.
“The Chinese Communist Party sees this as a threat, and they are escalating the extent of persecution,” and “we are trying to silence this positive voice.” โ
The Chinese administration exploited freedom of speech in the United States to run a targeted disinformation campaign, but said, “If Chinese authorities are likely to be disinformed, there is certainly an opportunity to set records straight by providing correct information.”
She feels it is a reminder to educate the average American about the tactics used by the administration.
“We need to be vigilant, but we need to be assertive as possible and shut them down,” she said. “So we’re not so vulnerable that we’re being taken by them.”

Rep. Chris Smith (RN.J.), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and co-chair of the Chinese Parliament’s Executive Committee, expressed similar sentiments.
The US needs to “push back even harder,” he said.
Communist China is “the worst oppressive state on the surface of the earth,” he told the Epoch Times. “So you have to stand up to those who are injured and tortured when they are arrested.”
He said the US government will “focus more on cross-border oppression” from China, and that he hopes President Donald Trump will meet with Chinese administration leader Xi Jinping to encourage the release of incarcerated Americans and those imprisoned for their faith.
“We’ll maintain the pressure.”
