ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – An epic adventure awaits you in the spectacular universe, the new theme park at Universal Orlando Resort, which opens Thursday.
This is the company’s fourth theme park to participate in Universal Studios, Adventure Island and Volcanic Bay.
“In this epic world of Universal, we have made a conscious effort to enhance our entertainment program,” says Kath Lindide Nova, senior show producer at Universal Creative. “In an epic world, we decided to really raise the game of what we can technically do with our entertainment, as well as our entertainment and other attractions.”

The epic universe consists of five different worlds: Heavenly Park, How to Train the Dragon Island of Burke, Harry Potter Magic, Dark Universe, and Super Nintendo World Magic World.
The park consists of 11 attractions, food, shops, interactive experiences and two original shows.
“Of course, there are some different elements of special effects, puppet shows, and they all come together in a truly unique and theatrical experience,” Didenova said.
“Epic Universe is a game changer,” said Christian Rogers, assistant dean at Purdue Polytechnic Institute, who teaches Themed Entertainment and Immersive Design.
Rogers said the theme park uses cutting-edge drones and animatronics technology.
“The companies I know, the companies that created them have done an incredible job of adding real life, realism to animatronics you don’t normally have. We’re only getting more and more improved in that field,” Rogers said.
Business experts hope that the epic universe will attract millions of visitors to the Central Florida region.
Richard Drowwin, professor of international business and finance at Rollins College, said: “From an economic perspective, it adds a lot of value to the region.”
Lewin said the epic universe could lead to Universal Orlando Resort attracting most visitors, but the number of people interested in visiting Orlando’s theme parks has also grown.
“The competition is healthy. Each park will be re-reviewed and try to grab a bigger share of that pie. Disney will have to upgrade the park to some degree,” Lewin said.
“When people think about competition, they think they’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going to lose myself’, ‘Oh, Disney is going to disappear.’ No, Disney is not going to leave. “It’s going to be a good thing. It’s going to be a good thing for the industry as a whole, and it’s going to be a great thing for the guests.”
The epic universe will open on May 22nd.
