LOS ANGELES – A judge on Thursday ordered a man who said authorities crashed a car through the main gate of Jennifer Aniston’s home must pass through a mental health court to determine whether he is capable of facing felony stalking and vandalism charges.
Jimmy Wayne Carweil, 48, was wrapped in a blanket shirtless and wrapped in a blanket as he appeared behind a glass in the courtroom custody area in Los Angeles. Carwyle did not speak during the lawsuit. His lawyer entered into a plea of innocence on his behalf.
Prosecutors say the Mississippi man had been harassing Aniston for two years in a flood of voicemail, email and social media messages before rushing to her gates Monday.
Judge Keith L. Schwartz doubted whether Kerweil would understand him when prosecutors demanded that the accused staying in prison be ordered not to approach Aniston.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a problem at this point for him to leave Mr. Aniston,” said Carwyle’s aide to adjunct.
However, at the prosecutor’s point, Schwartz issued an order anyway.
“You should not be in touch with Jennifer Aniston under any conditions,” the judge said.
Authorities say Aniston was at home when Carweil crashed the Chrysler PT cruiser through the gates of his home in the wealthy Bel Air district, causing serious damage. Before police arrived and arrested him, security guards stopped him in her driveway.
There were no reports of injuries.
Aniston’s lawyer, who attended Thursday’s hearing, declined to comment, and other representatives of the “Friends” star have not responded to requests for comment.
Carwyle is also facing an exacerbated threat of major physical harm. If convicted, he can enter prison for up to three years.
Malik does not speak to reporters outside the court.
Aniston bought Midcentury Mansion in 2012 for around $21 million, according to a report by Architectural Digest.
She became one of the biggest stars on television in a decade with NBC’s “Friend.” Aniston won an Emmy for Best Lead Actress for the role’s comedy, and she was further nominated for 9. She is currently appearing on Apple TV+’s “Morning Show.”
