Police have identified the pickup driver as 25-year-old Isai Moreno of Humble, Texas.
West Yellowstone, Monchall – Idaho State Police said Saturday that the driver of the tour van involved in a fatal collision with a pickup truck is licensed in California, and the company that organized the trip is CTOUR Holiday LLC, a large tour operator providing international travel services.
Six people from the pickup truck driver and Mercedes van were killed in a crash that occurred Thursday evening on US Highway 20 near Henry Lake State Park in eastern Idaho as the tour group headed for Yellowstone National Park.
Police have identified the pickup driver as 25-year-old Isai Moreno of Humble, Texas. They have not said whether the van driver was among the dead.
Ctour Holiday did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment Saturday.
The van’s passengers included 12 and one Italian of Chinese nationals. Police said they have worked closely with CTOUR holidays and are in contact with consulates in both countries.
The Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco said in an email that five Chinese citizens were killed and eight were injured.
The crash remains under investigation, and police said the body will be taken to the ADA County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy and formal verification of its identity.
Police say three people were seriously injured. The two were taken to Idaho Falls Hospital, and one was taken to a hospital in Bozeman, Montana. No information regarding the conditions was made public, and the hospital did not immediately respond to messages asking for updates.
Others were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
“Due to privacy considerations, no information will be released regarding the medical situation of the injured person,” police said in a statement.
