Construction of the University of South Florida’s new campus stadium is expected to advance following the university’s board of directors giving final approval to the updated project plan Tuesday.
The revised proposal outlines the total cost of the project at $348.5 million, an increase since the initial approval of the board in June 2023. The updated plans include future stadium expansions, the addition of verticals to the Tampa General Hospital Center for athletic excellence, and enhanced design and infrastructure to promote improved locker rooms capacity.
University officials said these additional costs would be subject to interest revenues from the $200 million funding previously issued by USF Financing Corporation.
USF President Rhea Law described it as an important milestone in his efforts to bring “world-class stadiums” to the Tampa campus. “We are excited to see construction take off at this iconic facility,” the law said in a statement, highlighting the potential to strengthen community ties and enhance campus experiences for students, alumni and visitors.

The university has also released a new rendering of the east side of the stadium. Stadium Planning Committee co-chairs Athletics Michael Kelly and USF Vice President Jay Stroman, CEO of USF Foundation, announced in May that preparations are underway to begin liquidation of the site.
“We have plans in place, construction preparations are underway, and we’ve officially entered the next chapter,” Kelly and Stromann said. “This moment is the result of years of vision and planning.”
The stadium is scheduled to be completed in spring 2027, with USF moving to the facility over the summer. The university is scheduled to hold its first event in the fall of 2027.
