TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — It was an emotional day as students returned to campus and walked to the Student Union and relived the tragedy from Thursday’s mass shootings in which six people were injured and two others were killed.
Students shared mixed feelings about the graduation ceremony and final round the corner on Monday, April 12th.
“I woke up and started the day around 11:30am. Around 12pm was my first alert hit and I didn’t think it was real,” said Andres Kubilos, a graduate student at FSU.
The confusion and disappointment filled the streets of Florida State University as students tried their best to prepare for their class a few days later.
The president of Richard McCullough, shares in an X post that classes and business operations will resume on Monday, with students highlighting concerns about the decision, but promises that McCullough will be flexible for the university and its staff who may not return.
“I know this doesn’t feel like a typical week. It’s the last week before the finals and I understand that a lot of people are still dealing with what happened. And I understand that some of you may not be able to return on Monday. That’s fine,” McCullough said.
Even with flexibility from the university, students say they always remember Thursday afternoons.
“It felt like my world was coming down for the last two hours. This campus community I’ve been involved in over the years has been torn apart,” Cubillos said.
