This is down 95% from March 2024, according to new data from Customs and Border Protection.
New data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) shows that illegal immigrant arrests have historically declined at the US southwest border last month as the Trump administration continues to tighten immigration enforcement.
“This constitutes a 14% decrease from February 2025 when USBP arrested 8,346 aliens, and a 95% decrease from March 2024 when USBP arrested 137,473 aliens.”
CBP representative Pete Flores said the border concerns in the southwestern border of the Border Patrol “all month in March 2025 was lower than the first two days of March 2024.”
The national average of daily anxiety across the country was 94% lower than the 4,488 daily anxiety registered last March under the Biden administration.
Earlier this month, Flores said, “Under the leadership of President Trump and his (landland) secretary Noem, the administration has taken bold and decisive action to restore control at the border. Border Patrol agents are empowered to close illegal entry and never protect America’s lives.”
“The message is clear. The borders are closed at illegal intersections and I know this for those who are still willing to test our resolve. You will be charged and you will be deported.”
In March, the agency launched the CBP Home Mobile App, allowing illegal immigrants to notify the government of their intention to leave the United States.
The app has been updated with the addition of the ability to notify authorities that illegal immigrants have left the country.
“These functions are essential to complying with Executive Order 14159, which “protects the American citizens from invasion.” “We will ensure that there is a neat process for aliens to communicate their departure plans,” according to the CBP.
Tackling illegal immigration
The Trump administration is illegally tightening surveillance of the American people.
Illegal immigrants who were in the country for more than 30 days were required to register by April 11th, including fingerprints. Those entering the United States after April 11th will be 30 days after they arrive for registration.
Failure to register is a crime that can be punished by incarceration, fines, or both.
This rule does not apply to certain people, such as those who have applied for permanent residency or are already resident, individuals who have received valid work approval, and those subject to deportation proceedings.
“President Trump and I have an illegally clear message to the people of our country. We’re leaving now. If you leave now, you may have the opportunity to enjoy our freedom and live our American dreams,” Noem said in a statement on April 11th.
“The Trump administration will enforce all immigration laws. We will choose and choose the laws that we will enforce. We need to know who is in our country for the safety and security of our hometown and all Americans.”
This was said by people who have been parole since 2023, have a criminal history, or have posted criminal records in the FBI’s terrorist screening database, or more than 6,300 individuals whose parole ended as of April 11.
Meanwhile, CBP is promoting border wall construction projects. In mid-March, the agency awarded its first border wall contract under Trump’s second term.
This month, NOEM issued the Environmental Act DHS Waiver to promote the construction of a new wall of about 2.5 miles in California.
