FBI Director Kash Patel has announced a major drug attack, a total of 48,400 pounds of drugs in the Port Everglades, Florida.
According to a social media post on Patel, the monetary value of the drug seized by federal agents was $509 million.
“There is no deadly force on planet Earth that causes overdose deaths of American citizens every seven minutes than foreign terrorist organizations. We are humbled to be part of this Department of Justice, and we continue to protect ourselves on the streets.”
The FBI director cited many agencies that are part of the Trump administration’s “wide-government” approach to controlling drug trafficking, including the FBI, drug enforcement agencies, the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard and the Homeland Security Investigation.
Attorney General Pam Bondy spoke to reporters after the attack, saying, “This is an example of the Justice Department textbook that supports the fight against violent crime. These drugs are worth more than $5 billion. Almost 45,000 pounds of cocaine, pure cocaine, uncut, and 3,800 pounds of Marifana.
According to Patel, the Justice Department has made drug mitigation on the streets a “mission priority” and the FBI is supporting its mission.
“They take all the medicines off the streets, from the market. As AgBondi said, we’re going to lock (members of the cartel).
In 2023, more than 100,000 people died from drug overdose in the United States, with illegal fentanyl and other synthetic opioids making up almost 70% of deaths. Currently, fentanyl overdose is the main cause of death among US citizens aged 18-45.
