The 24th Ohio Burn Conference will take place in Stark County April 24-26. The meeting will feature a tour of the historic barn, including the act signed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Attendees can expect presentations on topics such as barn restoration and Ohio’s agricultural history.

Friends of Ohio Barns will host the 24th Ohanbern Conference in Stark County from April 24-26.

According to an announcement from Friends of Ohio Barns (FOB), the event celebrates Ohio’s historic barn, which is recognized as the official symbol of the nation.

The meeting includes a tour of five barns and lunch on April 25th. The full-day meeting on April 26th will include educational presentations, lunch, Barn of the Year Awards, member meetings and silent auctions. All three days require reservations and will close on April 22nd. Registration is available at Friendsofohiobarns.org.

The meeting will begin on the afternoon of April 24th with a tour of the Haynes House Underground Railroad Museum. Guests will also see the wood framed barn and attend the reception at the event barn with snacks. Additional functions require registration and only limited space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On April 25th, attendees embark on a barn bus tour that stops at five historic timber framed barns in the Stark County area of ​​Louisville and the Alliance. One barn on the tour is notable with the original land deed signed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. This event, including lunch break, tends to sell out quickly, leaving a limited number of seats left.

Special guest speakers for April 26th

The final day of the meeting will be held at the Fortz Community Center in East Canton. The speaker lineup includes Dr. Lindsay Cook, a leading art historian specializing in Notre Dame, and Jackson Dubois, executive director of the Timber Framers Guild in North America. DuBois discusses the history of Notre Dame after the 2019 fire and the restoration of its timber frame roofs.

Additionally, Kathleen Wichaus Voss will be presented to Swiss artist Ferdinand A. Brader, who created the attitudes of Pennsylvania and Ohio farms in the 1870s. Todd Kleismit, executive director of America 250, discusses preparations for Ohio for the 2026 US 250th anniversary.

Participants are encouraged to photograph the items for a silent auction. This will help you cover the costs of the meeting.

Friends of Ohio Barns is a 501C3 nonprofit organization focused on promoting awareness of Ohio’s historic barns through educational opportunities.
