Columbus-based discount chain Big Lot is planning to reopen several store locations after filing for bankruptcy protection last year. The store is set to reopen on April 10th under new ownership.
The retailer announced in a news release that the first opening will begin Thursday. Nine stores in six states have returned after being acquired by variety wholesalers. Four former Ohio Big Lot locations are set to open as Ollie’s bargain outlet stores.

Will Big Rots reopen its Ohio stores?
Yes, Ohio is on the list of states where various wholesalers will reopen their big lot stores. Although no exact dates and times have been announced, more than 50 other big lot stores will reopen on May 1, and according to the release, the other two reopenings will be set to resume “until early June.”
“We will soon be opening stores to serve our community. We know that stores are not the best to start, but each week we will add new products built for the grand opening celebration in the fall.”

In addition to Ohio, other large lots will open in North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, West Virginia and “other states.”

According to USA Today, nearly 30 big lot stores in Ohio were expected to survive bankruptcy and be handed over to variety wholesale. That included locations in Akron, Canton, Cincinnati and Columbus.
