Canton – All strict library locations were closed early Tuesday “due to an ongoing police investigation.”
The Stark Library issued a statement Tuesday afternoon announcing the closure. All library programs and bookmobile stops scheduled for Tuesday afternoon and evening have been cancelled.
“We apologize for the inconvenience, but we appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety and happiness of our staff, patrons and our community,” the statement said.
Details were not available immediately.
Library spokesman Daniel Atter mentioned questions about the ongoing investigation into Canton Police.
The main library in downtown Canton was evacuated by police on Monday following reports that a man with a gun may have been inside the building.
Police took the building by storm but found no one.
All clear library locations were closed on Monday due to the incident “from a wealth of attention” and the well-being of library staff, Attar said.
The Stark Library location was reopened on Tuesday morning.
