Indian Town, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida man has been accused of pulling a vehicle, claiming to be an ice agent and threatening to expel two victims.

Jose Juan Lopez, 23, of Indian Town, was arrested by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office after two men said they had been handed over in a traffic stop.

The victim was identified only as a Hispanic man, claiming Lopez was an agent of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and requested identification, authorities said. After he threatened to deport them, the men were suspicious, so they drove and called 911.

When deputies pursued Lopez, he turned to the victim and claimed he was the actual victim threatened with deportation.

Authorities arrested and charged Lopez, impersonating federal law enforcement. The suspect has a criminal record in Martin County including arrests, child abuse, possession of batteries, household batteries, controlled substances, and violations of probation, according to the sheriff’s office.

Lopez remains at the Martin County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
