Doral, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida woman has been accused of stealing thousands of people from men during tarot card measurements and mental cleansing.
NBC affiliate WTVJ reported that 67-year-old Carmen Valdez de Miguel was arrested Monday on charges of organized plans to resist a non-scary, grand theft and violence-free officer.
An arrest report obtained by WTVJ shows that the victim found a flyer in his car for a tarot card reading material and called the number on March 11th.
The report said the man spoke to the woman and agreed to a tarot card reading session for $20.
Two days later, the man went to the apartment and met Valdez de Miguel.

While reading, Valdez de Miguel is said to have told the man that he needed a “deeper spiritual cleansing procedure” that ranges between $600 and $700. He agreed to pay her partial payment and transferred $200 through Zell, the report said.
On March 14th, the victim returned to Valdez de Miguel’s apartment for a spiritual cleansing session. During the session, Valdez de Miguel asked the victim about his available bank balance. He told her $8,000 could be used.
According to the report, Valdez de Miguel asked the man to bring in the full next time, and guaranteed that he would double the money in the ritual and would return it on the same day.
On March 19, the report said the victim returned to the apartment with $3,000 in cash. Valdez de Miguel performed the ritual and put the money in a bag with eggs.
The bag was broken during the ceremony. When it opened, all that was left inside was a broken egg and a worm.
The victim told authorities that Valdez de Miguel appeared surprised. When he asked to return his money, she insisted that she could not do so “due to her state of mind.” She told the man that the money would be returned the next day.
According to the report, the victim contacted Valdez de Miguel several times, but she refused to return the money.
“She insisted that the funds were part of the ritual and that they could not be released until the candle disappeared on their own.
Valdez de Miguel was taken into custody on Monday. The officer said she was given the opportunity to return the money, but claimed she didn’t know the victim.
Authorities said Valdez de Miguel resisted being taken into custody and used fake names during his arrest.
Investigators told WTVJ that Valdez de Miguel has three warrants in separate theft cases.
Valdez de Miguel appeared before a judge on Tuesday, and she set the bond at $5,500.
“Okay, I had the opportunity to review this very interesting arrest affidavit. Also, don’t respond to any flyers left in your vehicle due to tarot card measurements. Especially when you bring $3,000 in cash and are asked to put money in a bag with eggs, you will realize that you should never respond to the flyers left in your vehicle,” Judge Mindy Glazer said. “This is strange.”
