The case in which the mother allegedly stabbed three children while she was asleep was labelled “tragic” by her lawyers after the matter was first mentioned in court.
The 47-year-old woman was arrested on March 31 after allegedly attacking 10, 13 and 16 children using a home knife.
The 10-year-old boy was stabbed twice, the 13-year-old girl was stabbed three times, and the 16-year-old girl maintained one stab wound and many lacerations, police say.
A mother who cannot be identified for legal reasons is said to have stabbed herself three times in the abdomen.
She was charged with three counts of intent to murder causing terrible physical harm and remained in the hospital under police security.
The mother of three did not apply for bail and was formally denied when her lawyer briefly mentioned the case in Parramatta District Court on April 1.
The lawsuit was postponed until May 29th, and after being discharged from the hospital, the mother remained on the path of remand, with potential bail applications pending.
The interim arrested order of violence was drawn by police against the woman.
“It’s a tragic case for everyone involved,” her lawyer Peter Gilgis told reporters outside the court.
Her three children (one of them has paraplegia) are expected to be taken to hospital after the attack and recover from the injury.
They were sleeping in the bedroom inside the Baulkam Hills house before the attack.
The man was able to grab the weapon from his partner before calling the police.
Footage from the scene shows one of the children stretching away from the house with a pink teddy on her lap.
Police said the family had no previous history of domestic violence.
