MSC Cruises made a delivery Thursday from MSC World America, the latest cruise ship scheduled to debut from Miami next month.
The 22-deck ship is the largest ever for the 216,638-ton cruise line and the second world-class, but the first heads to North America.
The 6,762-person sailing ship approaches the Royal Caribbean Oasis class ship, with a design similar to the ship’s neighbourhood approach to its layout.
Carved in seven districts, World America features 19 dining venues, 18 bars and lounges, an outdoor adventure area with water parks, rope courses, crow hangers, shopping districts, and an overwater swing called the largest version of the MSC Yacht Club for suite guests.
The ship will head to the new terminal on the Line in Port Miami on April 9th, featuring God Mother Drew Barrymore.
Cruise Line personnel moved to St. Nazaire, France, and after they acquired ownership of the ship, they ended at Chantiereda Tolantic Shipyard after construction.
“Our new flagship is a testament to a long-standing innovative partnership over 20 years, bringing five groundbreaking prototypes and 19 ships,” said Pierfranscovo, executive chairman of the Cruise division of MSC Group. “Together, we continue to push boundaries, combining cutting-edge design, latest technology and rich experience to set new standards for cruises, and constantly strive to further improve the environmental performance of each ship.”
There, the line celebrated the traditional coin placement ceremony of the MSC World Ship, the third world-class vessel under construction, and the steel cutting of MSC World Atlantic, the newly appointed fourth vessel of the class.
The line touts new vessels as being the most energy efficient, running on liquefied natural gas and switching to future renewable fuels to combat carbon emissions.
You can also use coastal power when docked. This is what Port Miami can offer. This allows the vessel to shut down the engine when it is in port.
World America is scheduled to begin a seven-night, Western Caribbean cruise on April 12th.
