TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – World America’s newest MSC cruise ship is set to begin its journey to Florida after a delivery ceremony took place on Thursday.
MSC officials travelled to St. Nazaire, France, to take ownership of the ship after construction ended at the Chantier de Atlantic shipyard.
“Our new flagship is a testament to a long-standing, innovative partnership that spans over 20 years, bringing five groundbreaking prototypes and 19 ships,” said PierFrancesco Vogo, executive chairman of the MSC Group’s cruise division. “Together, we continue to push boundaries, combining cutting-edge design, the latest technology and a wealth of experience to set new standards for cruises, constantly striving to further improve the environmental performance of each ship.”
The new ship has 22 decks, the largest in the MSC fleet. There are 19 dining venues, 18 bars and lounges, an outdoor adventure area with water parks, a rope course and an underwater swing called cliffhangers.
MSC World America began sailing from Miami in April, offering alternating seven nights and Western Caribbean itinerary.
Stops in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. San Juan, Puerto Rico. Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. Isla de Roatan, Honduras.
All sailing includes a visit to Ocean Kay MSC Marine Reserve, a private island for MSC cruises in the Bahamas.
MSC also held a steel cutting ceremony for another new vessel, MSC World Atlantic. The ship debuted in 2027 and will depart from Port Canaveral.
MSC World America’s first sailing begins on April 12th.
