TAVARES, Fla. (WFLA) — The death of a 10-year-old boy from “terrifying abuse” at the hands of his mother and her boyfriend has resulted in additional upgraded claims to the abuser, according to the state attorney’s office.
On February 23, Xavier Williams rushed to the Health Waterman in Tavares, covered in bruises, burns and other injuries consistent with abuse. The child was brought to the hospital by his mother, Kimberly Mills and her boyfriend, Andre Walker.
Police responded to Advent Health and arrested the factory for worsening child abuse. Walker first left the hospital and then retreated later.

On February 28, police announced additional charges of Mills that included two counts of worsening child abuse, two counts of child neglect, two counts of child abuse, two counts of child abuse, two counts of evidence tampering, two counts of child abuse and two count accessories. Walker was also charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse, two accessories of aggravated child abuse and tampering with evidence.

The child remained in a severe crisis for several weeks before the Tavares Police Department announced his death on March 21.
“It is clear to our agency that this child has been terribly abused. He is covered from head to toe with bruises of different sizes at different stages of healing,” Tavares Police Detective Courtney Sullivan said in February.
The 5th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office, which covers Lake County, announced the upgraded fees on Tuesday. Mills and Walker are currently indicted on one count of murder principals in second degree and a two-count principal for worsening child abuse.

Williams’ nine-year-old brother was also abused by Mills and Walker. A search of the couple’s home revealed a weight of 10 pounds, duct tape, copper wire, and a ladder. These were used to harm two children.
On Tuesday, Tavares Police released information about Williams’ candle vigil, which will be held on Saturday, March 29th.
“Xavier’s family warmly invites everyone in the community to take part in this moment of memory and gratitude with your overwhelming support during this time,” the official wrote in a Facebook post. “Come with us to show our love, compassion and solidarity as we celebrate Xavier’s life and the joys he has brought to those around him.”
Attendees are asked to wear a child’s favorite color, color blue, as a gesture of love unity. Authorities recommend that you light up your candles if the event candles run out.
