The governor and lawmakers fell midway in the 2024 Republican presidential primary when Donald supported Trump via DeSantis. They also received friction over the state’s education guidelines set by DeSantis on African American history in 2023.
The governor was originally Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FLA.) had in mind that he was his successor, but instead tapped her on behalf of the Senate’s secretary of Marco Rubio.

According to a poll released last month by the University of North Florida Public Opinion Institute, 57% of registered Republicans said they had a positive view of Dasantis. Donald had a 27% favorable rating.
However, an internal poll released last week in conjunction with Fabrizio Lee in Donald’s campaign poll showed Donald had a 34% to 30% lead over DeSantis.
