Gan Jing World (GJW) has officially announced the winners of the 2024 Kindness Is Cool Video Awards.
The contest attracted over 26,000 acts of kindness from participants from over 50 countries. According to GJW, the submitted videos will be presented in 11 languages, attracting over 10 million views in 150 countries and “proves that its kindness is a universal language that resonates widely.”
The winners will be celebrated at Times Square in New York City on March 28th to highlight the winning entries and showcase their stories to global audiences.
The Gold Awards are brought home and sharing the $10,000 prize money, singer-songwriter James H. White said, “Hero in Uniform: Army Sergeant Leading Hurricane Helen Relief Drive.”
White’s video honorary army sergeant. Michael Sharps led a veteran-led relief effort following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helen. Inspired by Sharp, White composed “Born To Rise.” This is a song that celebrates unity, resilience and compassion in challenging times.
According to GJW, White generously chose to share the prize with two charities. It supports allies supporting Americans and allies amid the crisis, and helps airlines recover from disaster relief and first responders in anti-human trafficking missions around the world.
The Silver Award winner was Audrey for her short film “Old Shoes,” which won the $1,000 award.
Based on true events, the story centers around a young woman who repeatedly discovers old shoes at her gateway. Initially suspecting her older neighbor, she eventually reveals an unexpected act of quiet kindness.
The film’s intimate storytelling and emotional depth highlights how much of a small gesture can have on life, GJW said.
This year, Gan Jing World also featured the Student Voices School Award category, recognising outstanding student filmmakers from two Vietnam universities: Chi Minh City University of Education and HCMC Technology and University of Education.
The honorable mention of “Our World” is awarded, with young Priscilla preparing breakfast for her grandmother and looking back at her inner beauty. “Fable” offers a timeless lesson in appreciation rather than greed, an animated narrative of “Golden Egg-Laying Geese.”
