Doge administrators also work at health agencies: filing

Amy Gleason is said to be in charge of Doge, but the president says Elon Musk is leading the department.

According to a new court filing, the head of the Government Efficiency Office (DOGE) also works for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Doge administrator Amy Gleason works as an expert/consultant at HHS in addition to his duties at Doge, according to documents filed in the US court in Washington by the Trump administration.

Gleeson’s double role was explained in previous submissions, but her name was sealed until March 18th.

The White House and HHS did not respond to requests for comment.

President Donald Trump has explained that Elon Musk is in charge of the Doge, helping agencies fire workers and undergo restructuring. The White House in February said Gleason was the deputy manager of Doge. Officials also said Musk was not a Doge employee and he had no decision-making authority.
HHS officials told a federal court in Washington on March 11 without naming Gleason, an official with HHS said that the history of Gleason’s work, which was detailed to HHS in February, was detailed to HHS in February. Official Garey Rice said Gleason was provided with access to HHS systems related to financial management “to audit these programs for waste, fraud and abuse.”

Doge says
Gleason said in a recent court filing that she is a full-time Doge employee, overseeing all Doge employees and details and reporting to the White House staff chief Susie Wiles. Gleason did not mention her work at HHS.
Doge was founded in January by Trump. When Gleason began working at HHS in February, Doge was involved in several projects, including leading efforts to dismantle the US International Development Agency. This week, a federal judge ruled that Doge had found it liable to close the agency’s headquarters and remove its website, saying the judge is likely to violate the US Constitution.

Government officials revealed Gleason’s work at HHS in an incident filed by unions, including the U.S. Labor Federation and the Association of Industrial Organizations. The union alleged that Doge violated federal law by accessing the system at some US agencies.

US District Judge John Bates, who oversees the case, ordered the government to answer questions from the union in February. He also requested Doge workers and three other federal employees to sit for deposition.

Government lawyers recently asked Bates to reconsider his sentence. They said Doge has suspended employee details at any agency.

“Therefore, all individuals doing such work will become employees of the agency itself or, undoubtedly, detailed personnel of another agency that is subject to economic law,” they wrote, adding that the change “should remove the need for a prompt discovery before the motion to be dismissed.”

The lawyer also argued that the judges would allow the judge to edit documents certifying the development that would show the individual’s name, and that they would harass people by publishing the information.

Bates denied the request and discovered that Gleason and the others were already linked to Doge and that they were senior Doge employees.

That led to the disclosure of Gleason and two other identities on Tuesday.

According to the submission, one other, Brad Smith, is also working with HHS in addition to Doge. The other Jordan Wick played a double role in Doge and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
