Several Tesla vehicles, showrooms and charging stations are being attacked nationwide.
On March 18, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy condemned recent vandalism against Tesla property and confirmed that the Department of Justice had charged several perpetrators behind the attack.
“We will continue our investigation into those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”
Dori Koren, sheriff at the Metropolitan Police Department in Las Vegas, said in a news briefing that the suspect behind the attack used Molotov cocktails to light the vehicle and fired multiple rounds before he escaped. The word “resistance” was scribbled on every cap in the building.
At least five Tesla vehicles were damaged, Koren said.
“This was a targeted attack on the Tesla facility,” he told reporters.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the flames.
“Tesla was just building electric cars and did nothing worthy of these evil attacks,” Musk wrote.
Tesla showroom, targeted charging station
Both incidents follow a series of other attacks on Tesla vehicles, showrooms and charging stations around the country, along with calls for boycotts and protests outside Tesla dealers.
Protesters raised concerns about the role of masks in drastic reductions in the federal workforce that has been made since President Donald Trump returned to the White House along with cancellation of contracts related to humanitarian programs.
The March 3 incident sparked seven charging stations in a mall outside Boston.
On March 6, Oregon police said they were investigating a Tesla dealer after being damaged by the overnight shooting.
Just a day later, a man accidentally flares up when he burned three Tesla Chargers in a parking lot at a South Carolina mall.
“When you catch them, those people have a big problem. We have a lot of cameras. We already know who some of them are. We’re trying to catch them. They’re the bad guys.
Authorities are currently investigating recent vandalism.
