Many Central Floridians may be feeling lucky this weekend as St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th was filled with beer and Ireland-themed cheer.
Born in commemoration of Irish Christianity, and St. Patrick, the island’s patron saint, has evolved into a broader celebration of Irish culture, including parades, dancing, drinking, and plenty of greenery.
This year, many Central Florida bars and restaurants are holding parties and offering specials of food and drinks to guests looking for a festivities.
While far from an exhaustive list, there are deals, events and specials to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the Orlando area.
Ireland-themed festivals and trades
LaCart Milk District, an Orlando food truck hangout, will host Guinness and Green Beer and St. Patrick’s Day pre-party over the weekend. On Sunday, Ireland’s Magenis Academy of Ireland Dancers will be unveiling a show that was festivities held at a special event at 609 Irvington Avenue, Orlando, March 14-16. More information: Alacartorlando.com Boxi Park Lake Nona will host an Irish-themed festival from the “Paint & Sip” event on Thursday, followed by a Def Lepprechaun concert from 6:30pm on Friday. Saturday brings the day of music and festiveness with live bands (including Mount Dora Pipe Band), Irish Dance and theme celebrations starting at 1pm. In Orlando. More Information: Boxiparklakenona.com Crooked Can’s Celtic Fest celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with live music, Irish dance, jugglers, stilt pedestrians and food throughout the weekend. Enjoy the festival at 426 W. Plant St. in Winter Garden from March 14th to 16th. More information: Facebook.com/crookedcanbrewingcompany The Grafton Street Pub hosts a celebration featuring live music, Irish dancers, bagpipers, DJs and food and drink specials. Tickets will be between $10 and $15 (including drink tickets) from March 15th to 16th. The events on March 14th and 17th are free. Jojo’s Shake Bar features St. Patrick’s Day shaking menus and new packaging that allow diners to create their own charms and bracelets while enjoying food and drinks. The experience will be available throughout March at 9101 International Drive, Suite 1208 in Orlando, and can be reserved here. More details: Dogtoberfest.us Hosted by American Legion, Leprechaun Run 5K presents its first event in Cassadaga with a fun Irish themed run. Complimentary pancakes and beer (ages 21 and up) are available after the race. This costs $30 to register in advance (or close to the event). Participants can bring their bikes, link to Kyle’s bike shop, or wander around the venue on foot. Tickets are $10 in advance for the event held at E. Robinson St., Orlando, from 6pm to 10pm on March 14th. Enjoy Irish dancers, stilted pedestrians, face painting and more at Centre Lake Park. There are free attendees at the event, but you can purchase a beer punch card for those over the age of 21. The festival will be held from 4pm to 9pm on March 15th at 299 Centre Ray Crane in Oviedo. More information: Cityofoviedo.net Portiollo’s is a restaurant chain known for its Chicago-style street food, serving mint chocolate shakes on St. Patrick’s Day. The snack will be available at restaurants through March 31st and available for online ordering with take-out and delivery options. Mighty St. Patrick’s Day Festival on Raglan Road is back this year with food specials, live entertainment, plenty of drinks and hilariousness in Disney Springs. More information: Sanfordfl.gov Seaworld Orlando’s Seven Seas Food Festival continues this weekend with the St. Patrick’s Day celebration. See the theme celebrities and experience Irish music and Irish tastes. The festival is included at 7007 Sea World Drive in Orlando with theme park admissions from March 14-17 and March 20-23.
