March may enter like a lion and go out like a lamb, but there are plenty of art events in between. There are nine to check out before the end of the month.
The Dog’s Life: Musical: Hideaway Performing Arts Center is staging “A Dog’s Life: The Musical.” It gives an animal-friendly twist. The show tells the story of Joel, a single man who recruits a dog named Jack in an attempt to get his ex-girlfriend back, and tries to find a friend. The ensemble cast features Andrew Silk as Jack, Jim Quinlan as Joel, Adam Cornet as Big Dog, and Noel Richards as a little dog.
On the run, Hideaway is partnering with Forever Home Animal Rescue of Eustis, a non-killed shelter, to bring awareness to the charity’s mission to find eternal homes for animals across the country. Patrons will be able to meet some of the four-legged residents of the shelter at the theatre.
The show will be held on Sundays from March 23rd, Friday – Saturday, 2pm to 7pm. Tickets are $25 at hideawaypac.com. The theatre is located at 431 Plaza Drive in Eustis, Biglot Plaza.

“The Man From Earth”: After production at the 2017 Orlando Fringe Festival, “The Man From Earth” is back. Play (you may have seen the movie) Question What would you do if one of your best friends said he was actually 14,000 years old?
The sci-fi drama was written by Jerome Bixby, author of the original Star Trek and Twilight Zone. Chuck Dent will direct actors such as Nikki Darden Creston, Rob Del Medico, Jack Redor and David Strauss.
The show will be premiered by the world premiere of “Rejoue and La Lionne,” a short fairytale play by Tiffany Strand. Performances will take place through March 23rd at the Imagine Performing Arts Center, Ovideo Mall, 1700 Oviedo Mall Blvd. Tickets are $20 at ImaginePerformingArtScenter.org/events.
Mr. Rogers Walking Tour: March 20th marks Mr. Rogers’ 96th birthday, with Rollins College celebrating its self-guided campus walking tour available until March 31st.
“The walking tour is a way to celebrate the time Fred Rogers spent on campus as a student and the many ways he continues to influence the Rollins College community,” said Rollins President Grant Cornwell.
Audio tours can be downloaded once participants access the five stops on the tour. (Earphones are recommended for indoor areas.) The tour begins at the Orin Library, where Mr. Rogers sweaters and sneakers, which he donated to the university in 1991, will be exhibited along with a collection of books from the Rollins College Archives, his yearbook, personal letters and photographs. Other stops include portraits, plaques and a 7-foot tall 3,000-pound sculpture installed in 2021.

Exhibition at the Central Florida Watercolor Association: The association presents “Watercolor Shooting,” a collection of paintings with a variety of styles and subjects, at city art in downtown Orlando. The special “Legend Wall” is dedicated to artwork by Ken Austin, founder of the Central Florida Watercolor Association, as well as members Shawn Sean Nelson and Glenward.
CityArts is located at 39 S. Magnolia Ave. in Orlando, and is Tuesday – Sundays. The exhibition will be held until April 12th.
On the Orlando Family Stage, “Wimpy Kid” has an edge | Review
RBG: “Equality of Everything: The Life and the Trial of Ruth Budder Ginsberg” dives deep into the story of the late Supreme Court judge. The play will be presented by the Doctor of Performing Arts at Steinmetz Hall on March 23 at 7:30pm.
In the play of one woman starring Michel Hazard, Ginsburg welcomes family friends in her room and spends 90 minutes talking about the key moments that shape her life. The play was written by Tony Award-winning playwright Rupert Holmes and directed by Rayleigh Liperd.

Kevin Kelly: Winter Park Playhouse’s next cabaret will be performed by Kevin Kelly from 7:30pm on March 26th-27th. Title: “I’ve heard the song,” the performance features Christopher Leavy on the piano and includes the production of Kelly’s classic songs by Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, Frank Rother, Johnny Mercer, Bobby Darrin, and Dean Martin.
Kelly has appeared in many theatrical works across the state, featuring soloists from the Orlando Philharmonic and Sarasota Orchestra.

’25th Putnam County Spelling Bee’: The off-beat musical by William Finn and Rachel Shenkin will be performing at Seminole State University in Lucetre, which will build the B-127 on the Sanford Lake Mary campus from March 27-30. The show follows a group of passionate and quirky middle schoolers (played by adults) who try to win a big award.

Brahms Requiem: The Cathedral choir and orchestra at Mary Shrine, Queen of the Universe, will be introducing the “German Requiem” by Johannes Brahms at 7:30pm on March 28th.
No tickets are required for free concerts. The shrine is located near Lake Buena Vista exit at 8300 Vineland Ave., I-4 (Exit 68).
