Okeechobee, Fla. (WFLA) – Six people have been killed after a car crashed into flames on State Road 60 in Osceola County.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a crash occurred around 3:45pm on Saturday.

Hyundai Tucson moved west on the 60 SR 60 and approached a semi-truck that was moving in the opposite direction.

FHP said Hyundai drivers moved into the eastbound lanes and tried to chase multiple vehicles. When Hyundai tried to reenter the westbound lane, the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The driver’s side of the Hyundai collided with the front of the semi-truck, causing both vehicles to be engulfed in flames.

The Hyundai driver, along with all five passengers, was declared locked up in the car and died at the scene. The FHP said the victim has not yet been identified, but it is possible that there were three adults and three children inside the car.

The 36-year-old Miami Gardens man, the semi-truck driver, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The FHP said more information will be made public after medical inspectors actively identify the deceased.
