29 years old on honeymoon after lightning strikes in Florida Beach

News Myrna Beach, Fla. (WFLA) – A tourist has passed away after being hit by lightning on a Florida beach last week.

According to a report by NBC affiliate WESH, the 29-year-old Colorado man who was visiting his honeymoon area passed away after an incident at Newsmyrna Beach on Friday.

He was standing in the deep waters of his ankles at the time of the incident. He was taken to the hospital in danger after a bystander performed CPR.

Tammy Malphurs, director of Volusia County Beach Safety, confirmed that the Lightning Strike victim, identified as Jake Rosencranz, died of injuries on Monday.

Malfer said the storm itself was miles away from the coast at the time of the incident.

According to the city of News Myrna Beach, two people were struck by lightning on the same day at Venetian Bay Golf Course. Neither person was hospitalized.
