NEWS MORNER BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) – Dozens of bicycle gang members have been arrested after surgery, including the DEA, FBI and nine other sheriff’s offices, as they investigated a shooting that occurred during Bike Week at News MORNER BEACH.
The operation began after an incident in March when rival bike gangs stood up against each other at the racetrack and exchanged shootouts. Two people were injured in the shooting, but no fatal person was reported.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the operation spread across multiple Florida counties, with 28 arrests occurring, with four in Borusia County alone.
Among those arrested was the branch president of the Mongolis Motorcycle Club, who pointed out that Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood is from South America and has no permanent legal status.
Sheriff Chitwood said numerous guns have been recovered and officials are likely to be charged with worsening riots. This is considered a Florida felony.
