BAHAMA (WFLA) – Two Florida women are recovering after two Florida women were attacked by sharks while on vacation in the Bahamas.
Rileigh Decker, 20, and a 24-year-old summer amateur, were out on the waters of Bimini Bay on the first day of their Friday holiday. After jumping off her friend’s yacht, Decker told NBC she felt something tweaking her legs.

“I was like, ‘Summer, what was it?’ And she was like, ‘Don’t be scared of me like that,'” Decker said.
The two continued swimming in the Caribbean for a few minutes. It was when Decker said he felt his leg pull as he approached the ladder.
“I quickly found out I was by the sharks,” she said.
After being attacked by what they believed to be bull sharks, the duo’s friends and family on the boat were able to pull them safely. They cried to the amateur that the top of her legs was shredded as a tourniquet was applied to Decker’s right leg.
“The water was just red,” Decker told NBC. “I got my head and started praying that God would not take my life and that I would live. It was very scary.”

Decker was airlifted to a Bahamas hospital for treatment. After she was stable, she and Rayman returned to Florida. Decker is still facing another round of surgery.
“We’re very grateful to be here with all our limbs,” Decker said.
“Yes, that’s a big deal. Yeah, you usually don’t get off that easily,” Rayman added.
According to NBC, the Bahamas have one of the highest shark incident rates in the world, with 34 confirmed untaunted attacks.
