14 Arrested in “Travel to Gavel” operation targeting internet predators: VSO

Volsia County, Fla. (WFLA) – 14 men have been arrested after a three-day undercover investigation targeting internet predators, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said.

The man involved in the undercover investigation “Travel to Gavel” thought he was sending messages to boys and girls aged 13 to 15.

One of the men arrested, the 25-year-old Ocala, was charged with worsening battery, attacking law enforcement officers, and getting out of injury, and resisting arrest with violence after accelerating the vehicle to adjunct and breaking his leg.

Another arrest, 45 years old from North Carolina, was on vacation with his girlfriend and three children, the Volsia Sheriff’s Office said.

Others arrested are:

The operation was a joint effort from the VSO and the North Florida Internet Crimes, South Daytona PD, Port Orange Police Department, Lake City Police Department LCFLAPD, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, FDLE and state attorneys for the Florida 7th Circuit.
